Welcome to our blog!

Why We Started Valor: Building a Hospice That Feels Like Family

I'll never forget that time in my life that changed everything for me. Years ago, I watched a family member navigate end-of-life care, and what struck me wasn't just the medical challenges; it was how isolated they felt. The clinical atmosphere, the rushed interactions, the sense that they were just another patient in the system. I kept thinking, “This isn't how it should be. Not during life's most vulnerable moments.”

That experience planted a seed that eventually grew into Valor Hospice.

When we founded Valor, we made ourselves a promise that every person who comes through our doors would be treated like our own family. Not as a slogan, but as a sincere commitment. Because when someone invites us into their home during their final chapter, they're trusting us with something precious, not just their physical care, but their dignity, their comfort, and their peace.

Our name, Valor, reflects the courage it takes to face end-of-life decisions. But it also represents the bravery of families who open their hearts to us, and the dedication of our team who shows up every day with relentless compassion and care.

We built Valor differently. We don't believe in one-size-fits-all care plans. We take time to

understand what matters most to each patient. Whether that's staying comfortable at home, having family nearby, or finding spiritual peace. Our team doesn't just provide medical support; we hold hands, we listen, and we honor each person's unique journey.

The DFW and Houston communities have welcomed us with open arms, and we've had the profound honor of serving hundreds of families. Every story is different. Every life is precious. And every family deserves to feel supported, not alone.

That's why we're here. That's why Valor exists.

Thank you for trusting us to walk alongside you. We don't take that responsibility lightly. You're not just choosing a hospice provider, you're welcoming a new extension of your family.

With gratitude,

Garrett King, CEO
