Neurological Diseases

Neurological diseases are illnesses that affect the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. These conditions often progress over time, leading to loss of movement, memory, communication, and independence.

 Types of Neurological Diseases:
  • Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

  • ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).

  • Parkinson’s disease.

  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

  • Huntington’s disease.

  • Strokes and related complications.

Consider hospice care
when a loved one...
  • Has a life-limiting illness.

  • Cannot walk, speak clearly, or eat without assistance.

  • Spends most of the day in bed.

  • Experiences recurrent infections (pneumonia, urinary tract infections, etc).

  • Has difficulty swallowing or is at risk of choking.

  • Struggles to communicate or recognize loved ones.

  • Shows a rapid decline in ALS, MS, or Huntington’s symptoms.

While neurological diseases may be overwhelming, hospice care helps patients live with dignity and comfort, while giving loved ones the support they need.

How Hospice Helps Patients With
